  • Utah Police Are Ramping DUI Patrols During The Holidays

    December 15, 2017 | Blog Drunk Driving
  • Christmas DUI UtahThe Utah Highway Patrol and various Utah law enforcement agencies are increasing enforcement of DUI patrols this holiday season. The Utah Highway Patrol has added 300 shifts that consist of troopers specifically looking for DUI drivers.

“If you choose to drive while drinking, the officers standing behind me will make sure you don’t have the opportunity to cause tragedy to someone else,” said Colonel Michael Rapich, Utah Highway Patrol..

According to Fox 13, in 2016 there were 9 DUI crashes during the Christmas Weekend and 7 alcohol related crashes on New Year’s Eve Weekend.

“Every single one of those crashes represents the opportunity for horrible tragedy at the hands of a DUI driver,” said Rapich.

To date the city of South Jordan has arrested over 100 drunk or drug drivers, according to Chief Jeff Carr, South Jordan Police Department.

Utah Police are reminding everyone that there are several ways to prevent a DUI or Drug crash such as taking a taxi, Uber, Lyft, or asking a sober friend or family member to drive you home.

Law enforcement officials are also reminding those that attend events to not let themselves drink too much and asking those people who are hosting parties to not over-serve anyone.

If a friend or family member insists on driving home drunk officials are asking that you take their keys from them.

Please do not get behind the wheel this holiday season!
