As I had mentioned in a previous post earlier this month the Utah Highway Patrol conducted a DUI Blitz for the 4th July Holiday that resulted in 22 DUI arrests, 2025 drivers pulled over, 1313 speeding tickets, 296 seat-belt tickets, and 95 vehicle crashes.
With July 24th’s Pioneer Day celebrations beginning last Friday, Utah Law Enforcement Agencies are again ramping up their efforts to catch drivers who are impaired.
Last year police in American Fork held a checkpoint in American Fork Canyon and arrested 39 people for various DUI related offenses.
Accroding to ABC 4 on last year’s American Fork Canyon Checkpoint:
Of those arrests there were nine DUIs, five alcohol violations, and 25 drug related violations. Police also had nine vehicles impounded.
Utah Police will be out in full force this year along the Wasatch Front and the entire state of Utah. Keep an eye out for any information regarding traffic checkpoints in Salt Lake County, Davis County, Wasatch County, and Provo County.
The heightened DUI patrols will most likely carry on through the week until next Monday, July 30th.
Please don’t drive impaired whether it is from alcohol or drugs. Have a plan, use a designated driver, call a cab, or use Lyft or Uber.
However, if you do find yourself in trouble with a DUI offense during the Pioneer Day Holiday, please get in touch. I can help you navigate through your charges and get you out of trouble.
