  • Utah Police Ramping Up DUI Patrols For Memorial Day Weekend

    May 25, 2018 | Blog Drunk Driving
  • Like they do every year, the Utah Highway Patrol is planning on ramping up its efforts to patrol for DUI during this upcoming Memorial Day Weekend.

The UHP has added 250 extra shifts starting tonight (Friday) and into late Monday night. These additional shifts will have extra officers patrolling for DUIs during the evening and late night shifts.

    According to Fox 13:

According to a statement on UHP’s website, the extra shifts include 74 evening and nighttime shifts for troopers to focus on looking for people driving under the influence.

Troopers will be “saturating the roads” in Salt Lake County to look for and arrest impaired drivers beginning Friday night, the statement said.

“The strong message is that if you plan to drink, plan to have a ride home. If you plan to drink and drive, plan on being arrested,” a news release from UHP said.

The Utah Highway Patrol will also be holding a DUI Blitz tonight (Friday). According to a statement on their website:

    Utah DUI Blitz Friday Night

On Friday night, troopers in Salt Lake County will hold a DUI blitz, saturating the roads to look for and remove impaired drivers.

If your weekend plans include drinking, make sure they also include plans for a safe and sober ride home.

Please don’t drive drunk. Avoid a Memorial Day Weekend DUI arrest. Have a plan, take a cab, order an Uber or Lyft. Don’t drink and drive.
