Salt Lake DUI AttorneyAccording to the Utah Department of Public Safety, in 2012, there were 765 crashes in the state in which the driver was impaired by drugs. Forty people lost their lives in such crashes and 545 people were injured. According to a fact sheet on drug-impaired drivers in 2012, the number of people who were killed in a drug-impaired driving crash was twice the number of people killed in drunk driving crashes. In fact, drivers impaired by drugs were 2.6 times more likely to injure or kill someone than drivers in other crashes.

The number of crashes involving drug-impaired drivers was highest for drivers ages 20 to 34 years old.

Fatal crashes were highest for drivers ages 25 to 29 years old.

A DUI-drugs charge carries significant penalties — just as a drunk driving charge.

These charges require a vigorous defense presented by an experienced attorney. Evidence of drug-impaired driving is usually gathered through a blood or urine test and your attorney may be able to challenge the results of such testing. Your attorney can advise you on defense strategies when it comes to your particular case.
