Utah legislative representatives, prosecuting attorneys, and state officials are pushing for probation and parole reform. The goal is to get people that have been cited for crimes in proper treatment programs. Like Drug Court for those arrested for Drug Crimes.
There's two things that Utah Police Officers can do after arresting and citing someone for DUI. 1. They can put the person in handcuffs and take them to jail. 2. They can call someone to come and pick up the DUI driver and take them home.
Like they do every year, the Utah Highway Patrol is planning on ramping up its efforts to patrol for DUI during this upcoming Memorial Day Weekend.
The UHP has added 250 extra shifts starting tonight (Friday) and into late Monday night. These additional shifts will have extra officers patrolling for DUIs during the evening and late night shifts.

While driving south the ambulance was hit by an SUV that did not stop at a stop sign. Upon colliding the ambulance rolled over causing injury to two EMS workers. The driver of the SUV who was not wearing his seat-belt was also injured. The passenger in the SUV was not.
A drunk driver hit a home located at 1814 W., 400 South in West Bountiful. The driver crashed into a room that a 5-month old baby was sleeping in. Luckily the baby was not severely injured and just treated for minor injures.
